Sportsmanship

Siuslaw High School and the schools in the Sky-Em Leauge and 3A-Special District 2 in conjunction with OSAA are committed to providing a safe and respectful atmosphere for  all participating in and attending athletic events.

In the past 10 years the state of Oregon has seen the number of high school officials decline by 35%. Officials' number one reason for leaving the profession is a lack of respect they receive by spectators.

Siuslaw High School and other teams in the league are taking definitive action to help stem this trend. Overtly negative speech or actions made toward an official, coaches or players will be immediately dealt with by removal from the competition or activity.

Please show respect for all, understand the rules and maintain self-control. Let your good sportsmanship show and cheer for your team.

OSAA and the Sate of Oregon have adopted new laws and policies to deal with those who demonstrate poor sportsmanship.  Go to http://www.osaa.org/docs/osaainfo/10SpectatorConductPolicies.pdf  or contact the school main office for details.

If you are interested in a part-time job officiating high school contests, contact Oregon Schools Activity Association.

Game Day Experience.

Siuslaw Football Game Day eperience is special.  The Game Day Experience begins with the QB Club meeting starting at noon at Siuslaw High Auditorium.  Later that day, there is a pre-ame dinner for the players and coaches.  This dinner is put on by parent volunteers.  At the game itself, there are several activiites going on each week in addition to the action on the field.  Check out the updates on our home page for details.  Following each game there is Siuslaw tradition called "After-glow."  This is held on the field imediately following each game.  This is a time to celebrate our youth, our community and each other what we are thankful for and how much we appreciate one another.
